Eating out on the Paleo Diet: Chipotle


Let me start by saying that die hard Paleo dieters may be put off by this post.  While researching this topic I found that Chipotle does use rice bran oil and soy bean oil in most of its meats while marinating and/or cooking.  If you fit in this category then your only safe option is the carnitas which is the only soy free option on the menu besides the veggies.

For those who are a little less strict with the Paleo lifestyle Chipotle makes a good choice when dining out.  The best choice is a burrito bowl which eliminates an obvious no-no…tortillas.  The bowl is made up of a protein and any number of add-ons.  I recommend the following choices:

  • Chicken/Steak
  • Fajita mix
  • Lettuce
  • Mild Salsa
  • Med/Hot Salsa


This is a really tasty combination and will definitely fill you up.  Give it a try next time you are in a crunch and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
